One of the most annoying and senseless types of accidents are caused by those who like to stop their vehicles and chit chat with someone else. It happens on roads, in parking lots at the school carpool and anywhere else inconsiderate people like to gather.
There you are trying to get to an appointment on time and Sally Suburban is stopped directly in front of you on a two-lane road. Also stopped on the other side of the road is Randy Range Rover. They are oh so enjoying their conversation and get very annoyed if someone dares flash their lights at them or blows the horn. After all they think they are very important people and the whole world should stop and wait until their conversation ends.
The conversation does end. Abruptly! Tommy Texter is careening down the road behind Randy Range Rover. His eyes are on his cellphone as he looks for the right Emoji to send to his bud about the frivolity of the day. Kablam! Tommy slams into Randy and knocks Randy into Sally. However, as you are a defensive driver you have wisely stopped far behind the “talk of the town” who is in front of you. Hence you escape unharmed. A less observant driver may have not fared as well under such circumstances.
Be alert folks. One would think if people wanted to stop and chit chat in a grocery store parking lot they might move over and park in one of the 86 empty parking spaces next to them. But many of them don’t and cause accidents. Give them and others like them a wide berth. Also refrain from blowing your horn or admonishing them. Quite a bit of road rage out there these days. You never know when someone is going to snap and start firing off rounds at you. Drive smart and stay safe. Far better to arrive alive at your meeting late than to miss it altogether in a hospital emergency room.
Some people are considerate and alert. But it only takes one who is not for something bad to happen, especially behind the wheel. If you have an issue from one of those who aren’t paying attention, call the one you can trust. Contact Chris today … click here.
